Anyone else use this service? My sister got me into it a while ago, though I don't usually mess with it much. This week I've had one of those intense weeks where you lock yourself in your office and work on a single project for hours at a time and I've put the music on to help -- and it does help.

But sometimes it's REALLY scary how this thing pins ya. You give it artists and songs and it figures out what you should like from that. I've had it suggest stuff that I love that I would have never expected from what I fed it. I've had some real clunkers, too, but you just give it a thumbs down and it moves on.

Oh man I *love* pandora. I made a station based off of Cat Empire that is almost always completely perfect.

I've been being given Alice's Restaurant Massacre just about every day :) It's fun. Plenty of folk, oldies rock, and some fun stuff (I put in Tom Lehrer), too.

I *heart* Tom Lehrer

My "folk" station is the one based off Gaelic Storm....i was going for celtic music but i got some delightful world/folk thrown in too. It's how I found Joanna Newsom, among others.

Yeah, I've found some things turning up that I didn't know of before but are good.

The only HUGE miss I've had was when it gave me Hanna Montana. I mean, excuse me? What makes you think I'd listen to THAT? That got the thumbs down quickly.

I still haven't been able to figure out what it thought was remotely like that. I've entered a handful of 50s/60s rock groups, Peter Paul and Mary, John Denver, Tom Lehrer, and Arlo Guthrie. Nothing I've thumbed up should have sounded like that either :P

Just made an account now. My friend uses this too and it looks cool. I really don't know why I didn't join earlier seeing how hard it is for me to find music based on my eclectic tastes (not everyone can go from KT Tunstall to Evanescence to Brad Paisley to Shakira and thoroughly enjoy them all). I'm not really sure what this thing does yet though. :jackhuh:

If you enter shakira and evanescence and brad paisley onto one station you'll probably end up with craziness.

I'd suggest making a station for each of them and then switching when you're in the mood for something different.

Pandora takes whatever info you enter and uses that to choose the style of music you listen to...so for instance if you put in shakira you'l end up with more pop/reggaeton whereas if you enter brad paisley your other songs on that station will be country or country-influenced.

Craziness? Oh I am sure there are Latin Country Rock/Pop bands out there. "I lost mi perro so I must go lie in a field of paper flores on mi pickup truck" :razz2:

Currently I have a KT and Evanescence station up and running. Both are "trained" by my standards as they do play what I want and I am finding new music. Still I would like to know what would happened if I combined the two. I don't have any idea how to do that.

heeehee you never know ^ ^

But a friend of mine tried to combine 80's pop with heavy metal and he didn't like any of the music....Pandora got kinda confused ;)

Just create a station then click on it and it should let you add artists. Try it out and let us know how it goes ;)

So I figured out how to start my KT/Ev/Paramore station. Played Evanescence for what seemed like forever, then it played this really cool song by Courtney Jaye called Can't behave. Then it crashed into rock i didn't like so I added "Miniature Disastures" as a reference song. I then played like three KT songs before playing Within Temptation...um ...well they sounded cool. I really like them but have very little to do with KT. So then it spent the next hour switching between folksy acoustic and rock (not a clear genre but it covers pretty much everything played). The best thing to come out of this so far is that song I mentioned previously, Within Temptation, some one name Frou Frou and Flyleaf. Not much I've absolutely hated. So my little experiment seems to be so far a success.
