Nostalgia

Post by Lupana » Tue Jan 13, 2015 5:39 pm

I just discovered that Netflix added Road to El Dorado and I'm freaking out. This was one of my favorites as a kid. Right up there with Balto and 101 Dalmatians XD. What others did you all watch the most?

Lion King, of course. My user name's an obscure reference to a popular fan epic of the time.

Lion King, Last Unicorn...

Man I can't even handle Last Unicorn, it still holds up. I mean...so does Lion King. But something about Last Unicorn is so beautifully timeless

Uzuri: Ahh. Yeah I followed the fan base a little while but there were so many fan characters that I could never keep up. But Lion King is definitely a classic.

Last Unicorn. Oh man, you and Lierin would be able to fan about that for hours, if she ever gets back on here XD.

My favorite movie is Bambi :/

But I remember fond memories of Road to El Doardo and The Swan Princess along with particular terrible Disney sequels that I liked regardless. Apparently, I was obsessed with Winnie the Pooh, 101 Dalmations, and Dumbo as well... plus, Toy Story....

Toy Story was the first movie my dad ever took me to see in theaters. (I also cried like a baby at the third but seriously who didn't?) Swan Princess was one I missed as a kid but I enjoy it as an adult. Dumbo makes me cry, but it's so sweet.

And uhh let's just say I went through a 101 Dalmatian phase where that was basically all I cared about.

Oooh. Balto, The Lion King, and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron were the 3 I watched the most. I also watched Finding Nemo and Lilo & Stitch very frequently too. c:

I rewatched Balto and got all nostalgic. Then I rewatched The Fox and the Hounds and was disappointed XD

I dunno if it counts but I saw Persepolis in school once when I was 15 and forgot about it for years until accidentally rediscovering it, whereupon it became one of my all-time favorites. I guess that's nostalgia? Oh, and The Aristocats. I get all misty-eyed for that, easily the most watched film of my childhood. I guess everybody wants to be a cat.

Let's see, the animated things that I watched the most -

The Lion King definitely, The Emperor's New Groove (Lupana, this is the movie that I was obsessed with), various other Disney movies, The Road to El Dorado (which I just re-watched yesterday), Don Bluth movies, and a stop-motion show that used to air on ABC called Bump in the Night. I loved it so much.

Here is a shaggy dog story: The only reason I wanted the ToonDisney channel back in the day was because they showed Bump in the Night. Right after we upgraded our channel package they had stopped airing it. :starsad:

As a kid I watched Winnie the Pooh, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Moo Mesa. We had all the disney movies etc but I didn't rewatch them like I did those shows. I actually wore out at least one VHS from each of thise shows, and three different rewinders.

And that makes me think - my brother is 11 (10 years younger than I am) and although he has seen VHS tapes, I don't think he has ever watched one. If he has, he would have been too young to know it wasn't off a DVD. I don't even think he knows how a magnetic tape works, and this is a kid who is at least as inquisitove as I was and has rebuilt his laptop.

Winnie the Pooh - yes. Thomas was what my little brother adored so of course I watched it for hours XD. Have never heard of Moo Mesa though.
