Hairspray!

Post by kkitty23 » Sat Jul 21, 2007 8:15 pm

I really want to go see this xD

I was reading some reviews on this film and it just seems all around delightful! I think mainly because the star of the film isn't some size 0 actress with lots of fame and fortune. Nikki Blonsky is just an average girl who had an average job (working at Cold Stone Creamery!) and is now a celebrity 8D Her bubbly, down-to-earth personality is really what draws me to wanting to see this movie. Hairspray itself has been a good show, even since Ricky Lake provided lead role! And then of course there was the Broadway version which went over well.

So far I've yet to read any negative reviews, which is very surprising. Usually the media has something negative to say about a film! But it's really just all the more encouraging. I also get a HUGE kick out of the fact that John Travolta play's Nikki's mom xDDDDD And then, of course, I love that the lead actress is a bit heavy (yet still beautiful!), because I can relate to that more. I'm not super thin, nor am I super heavy. Seeing her rocket toward stardom is very encouraging and gives me some confidence that I actually have a chance at some kind of career in entertainment!

Does anyone else want to see this movie? If you've seen it, what are your thoughts on the film? And if not...what are your thoughts in general? Would love to hear some feedback!
If I don't shine my brightest, I'll be just like every other star in the sky.

I can't wait to see this movie!! I saw the musical a few years ago and it was awesome!! Except for getting a really bad headache from all the flashing lights during "You Can't Stop the Beat" :razz2: I love that song. I have the soundtrack. It's great. My favorite song: "Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now" I'm a total Broadway fanatic, I can't wait to see the musical movie that's apparently being made of Les Miserables!!

I read the review and have to admit that it sounds intriguing. I don't see many movies in the theatre any more (cost/annoyance factor), though, so I'll probably wait for the DVD to come out.

I saw this yesterday, and it is nothing but pure JOY from beginning to end! Everything about it just works. The casting is dead-on. Nikki Blonsky is perfect, and John Travolta and Christopher Walken are *wonderful* together. The music and choreography are just amazing; the film gives off so much energy that I found it nearly impossible to sit still. And it's a perfect example of how to get a message across without being preachy. Highly recommended!

It looks kind of like Grease, which I hated, but I'll see anything at least once before I judge it.

I finally got to see this movie. I begged and begged and no one would see it in theaters with me ,but i finally got to watch it tonight on tv.

I loved it. It was very enjoyable and everything was well done. I watched it with my mom who was really enjoying herself seeing everything she did as a kid in the 60s. She was also able to explain to me what the show was suppose to be mimicking. I had no idea what was what sometimes. Lol

Apparently the show was really just like that. :P She was explaining all the dances, hair, and clothes styles as well. It was very helpful. Lol

Anyways, It was a great movie beginning to end. I definitely recommend it! :D
