Light-box's

Post by Desdemona » Thu Feb 26, 2004 9:06 am

This might be in the wrong place; I wasn't sure where to put it, so feel free to shift it if need be =)

This is mainly directed to Audrye, although anyone is, of course, welcome to answer it!

I just wanted to hear a brief description of a lightbox (from someone who preferably has one) and what it is, because I'm thinking of buying one. Also, where could I get one? I hadda a look on ebay, but somehow, the ones that turned up didn't look like the lightbox's I wa slooking for...

Thanks in advance all! ^.^

Well, here's what I've got: (photos taken from the Chromacolour website)

It's just a cheap animation disc with an ACME peg bar in a folding stand. You just put a lamp other such light source behind the disc and you're ready to go. A full animation desk is nice, but this work well enough.

Yep, those are animation disks. I have a cheaper light table, and it works just as well...it just doesn't have the niftyness of being able to rotate it. It's called a light tracer and it has the light built in to it. It costs about $40, I think. And it's portable, which is a plus.

i made my own from wood, glass, and an aquarium hood light (better than a regular light bulb because it doesnt give off heat and get hot) nothing fancy, but it serves its purpose :p

I have a book called "Cartoon Animation" by Preston J. Blair and there are directions in the back on how to make a lightbox. I haven't done so yet, so I'm not sure how good it is but maybe it would be cheaper.

*nods* I got mine from the same place Ochiba did, because she told me about it, but I think mines a tad different... :p ah well, yes, some there are pretty cheap, unless you want a big one.Mines portable and it plugs into a wall socket, so I can take it viturally almost anywhere-its pretty nifty :luv:

OR... If you have a local vet clinic and connections (or a very outgoing disposition) you can go there and check out the radiology clinics. They have crazy big lightboxes for viewing radiographs, and they're quite nice for animation too. ;)

Mine's cheap and easy! We have a class coffee table. And I stick a light under it. Heh. *such a redneck*

lol! That works! Me, I found one that my parents used to use in the attic. I never knew it was there and I just happened to come by it. Now, I use it a lot! :cheese:

Lol, wow, I just asked mom if we could get a lightbox and she said we already had one... it was one from the clinic. Well, takes care of that. Time to animate! Yay!
