I used to howl all the time, but then we moved out of the country and into the suburbs... now I don't get reply howls from the coyotes. Oh well, it's still fun to irritate the neighbors. (They still don't know what it is)

Yes... but failed horribly.
Both good and evil have delicate hands, yet also tend to have a tight grip. Which side you choose is entirely up to you.

I often howl... even if there's no wolves in Paris
But I howl because... well... I like to do it, and I can express some feelings like my solitude, etc.

Once per year I go to a french wolf parc( the bigger of France, and robably of Europe), it's divided in 2 parcs, we can see wolves in one of them at any time, without paying( observation parc). One night we went to this observation parc and with my father and 7 other people we howled. More than 130 wolves howled back. It was... more then a dream :D

Hahaha I've howled before. I don't know how good it was, and I didn't get any reply howls. At least, not from wolves. There are none, in Florida, but there are dogs in my neighborhood that i can get rallied up a little. They don't excatly howl, though. Just bark. I can get my dog howling sometimes, with the start of a phone, and then continuing on myself. It's funny, and we howl sometimes together, for a few minutes  I remember, last thanksgiving, my Uncle Rick-- who is like, a total mountain man-- started howling, just like a coyote, and shut them all up! :starlaugh: It was neat. He sounded so good!

:cheese: Hahaha, that must be some filling feeling you get there Flydeto! If I started howling over here in London, the only thing I would stir is a load of screaming foxes and an angry neighbor :wink2:

When I was younger and played wolves with my sister I howled. Don't think it was very good.

I do howl. Usually when I'm lonely, though...
And when no one can hear me. It's really more of an urge for certain contexts than something done for fun or whatever. Really sucks to have to choke it back.

Back when I lived in Illinois, I'd howl and get responses from coyotes (both western and I'm pretty sure we had the eastern kind aka "coywolves" around despite a lack of reports at the time...occasionally, heard some really wolfish howls that didn't match up to coyotes or even dogs of any kind). I was told to stop that after a coyote got too curious and left his pawprints in my yard sometime during the night (fun fact: I didn't stop that).

I haven't. At least not since I was a kid. If I did now, it would just stir up all the dogs in the town and they'd start doing it.

However, I have a story to tell related to this:
A few months ago I went to a nature center that focuses on North American animals, and they had two gray wolves. I was able to get fairly close to them (about 5 or 6 feet with a fence between) which was good because I was sketching them. I was the only one there for a good while, but then I heard some teenagers in the distance. The wolves didn't react to their talking and laughing, but one of the guys started to howl. Immediately the wolves turned their heads and perked their ears.

So for all of you that have howled and didn't get a response, if there were wolves around, they were probably listening. :cheese:
