Future Wildlife Biologist here. ^^

Post by Hermie » Thu Jan 01, 2009 5:58 am

I've decided long ago I'm going to be a wildlife biologists after getting into an argument with a guy that knew nothing about the biological classifications of wolves, but acted like he did.

Then... I heard of this project. And the main character reminds me of myself. XD

I'm currently working on getting into the Fish and Wildlife Service, and am accepted to Oregon State University.

I plan on becoming a wolf specialist, and studying wolves in the field. ^^

Oooh, cool! =D Maybe you can help us out with your expertise when you're accepted - will you get to work with wolves (captive and/or wild)? Of course you'll get to meet all sorts of animals, too :)

Oh, of course. ^^ Within the next few years, I plan on doing a lot of intenseive studies on wolves. Oregon's wolf population is just starting to regrow, as wolves from the Northern Rockies are migrating west. I'm glad Oregon's state government is more welcoming than Idaho's with wolves... Governor Otter wants to hunt them down to levels keeping them just above the endangered mark.

I'm also going to see if I can raise awareness of the human impact on wildlife.

I'm not sure if I'll get to work with any wolves directly, but I hope I'll get to. ^^

Good luck! If you do succeed, could you give me advice? I really want to work with wolves as a job.
